Dear Friends,
California here we come! I LOVE PASADENA, CALIFORNIA, and I am so excited to invite YOU to attend our most exciting Pasadena event ever, The West Coast Heirloom Sewing Extravaganza, November 12-15, 2009!! Some of you might already know that Pasadena is my California home. Well not really, but at least every other year. As always, we have the most talented teachers and exciting BRAND NEW classes! Of course, the best part of any of our events is having YOU as a student!
I must start by thanking my dear friends at Husqvarna/Viking for once again underwriting this special event. Every student will have the privilege of sewing on a Husqvarna/Viking machine and serger. The Extravaganza will begin on Thursday, and every student will have four days of classes and fun with fantastic kits and the most talented teachers in the world!
In addition to four days and several nights of classes and fun, all of your fabulous kits will be furnished, as will four lunches and one evening banquet meal. We will also have a few extras in store for you. Thursday night will be devoted to wonderful table top clinics, where you will see all sorts of techniques and sewing ideas demonstrated, table-by-table. On Friday night, I will present "You Can Make Money From Your Hobby" for those of you interested in beginning a business or in growing a business that you already have. Saturday night will be our banquet, I will share my 28 years of funny sewing stories and anecdotes and even some stories that have nothing to do with sewing, but with my temporary weight problem. Sue Hausmann, from Husqvarna/Viking, will speak Sunday at lunch. She will touch your heart as well as excite you about sewing quick and meaningful gifts that you can make for the upcoming holiday season.
The marvelous, brand new heirloom projects that you will make are perfect to keep for yourself or to give during the upcoming holiday season. A handmade gift adds such a special, heartfelt touch to the holidays. After you see how easy these projects are, you won't feel the least bit guilty keeping one for yourself and making one of each for those on your "very special" gift list.
Serger class is always fun - especially with Peggy Dilbone and Kathy McMakin teaching! In this class you will create serger piping, make a perfect neck bias binding, and learn the tips and tricks of coverstitch and working with bias trims. This top is the cutest... you can put it with a pair of tap pants and use it for pajamas or wear it with jeans or make it longer and wear it as a nightgown. The sizes are S to 3XL. Are you a little afraid of a serger? After this day you will become best friends with your serger and truly be a master at serging quickly.
Deb Yedziniak and Jody Hooker have created a vintage look Madeira applique apron - with a pocket, of course - using Classic Cotton solids and their coordinating checks. Madeira Applique, using wash-away thread, is one of our best sewing tricks and this apron won't be complete without a bit of pinstitch and the softness of ruffles. Aprons are so popular and this one is sure to become your new favorite! This is the perfect Christmas present to make for all the ladies on your list.
Connie Palmer and Dody Baker have created an elegant decorator pillow to showcase tons of heirloom techniques and timeless heirloom stitches including candlewicking. This is the perfect project for an elegant monogram and have your Christmas sewing started. It is so beautiful you might want to make one for everyone on your list.
Sunday you will take 3 classes. And you talk about fun! Kathy McMakin and Alicia Welcher have a zippered serger lingerie or "what not" bag. Did I say "zipper with a serger?" Yes, that's right. It's easy! Connie Palmer and Peggy Dilbone have created a drawstring bag for you called "My Goodness-How Cute Is This?" This is the perfect purse for your little ones or for other uses. Jody Hooker and Deb Yedziniak have the perfect kitchen towel set for you so you can be all dressed up and have no dishes to dry! Just have fun embellishing purchased towels with our new Vintage Kitchin' Stitchin' machine embroidery CD and you truly will have your Christmas gifts underway. Everyone would love one of these towels.
Whatever you do, don't miss the Martha Pullen store, which will be right in the convention center. We'll offer special discounts on Martha Pullen products. Husqvarna/Viking will have a store in the convention center as well, also with special discounts on Husqvarna/Viking products. We cordially invite you to this West Coast Heirloom Sewing Extravaganza in Pasadena. It is going to be an event to top all events. We promise a sewing vacation to be remembered for many years, maybe a lifetime.
May God Bless You and Those You Love,
Martha |
