Scholarship Announcement

What a joy it is to announce the recipient for the 2009 Licensing tuition. The recipient is Peggy from Cookeville, TN.

Given in memory and honor of Judy Haan; a MP licensed teacher in the Viking 1, 2 and 3, Serger 1 and Baby Lock, Bernina and Pfaff curriculums. Our anonymous donor writes that Judy Haan was a beautiful and gracious lady who loved life and all that it had to offer her. She loved to sew beautiful things, teach heirloom sewing clases and loved to attend any Martha Pullen event. Judy passed away in 2008 after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. It is in her memory and honor that this one-time scholarship is funded. For more information about this scholoarship please click here.

WHAT IS A MARTHA PULLEN LICENSING TEACHER PROGRAM LIKE?
Who is it for? Should you become Licensed with Martha Pullen?

Originally the licensing program was planned for people who wanted to teach. We have developed a fabulous curriculum which ONLY you licensed teachers can use. It has around 20 fabulous projects, including a 9 square technique quilt, with technical directions clearly written, professional step by step illustrations that will be well received by your students. Students like well organized classes with fabulous project sheets. When you are in Huntsville you receive the kits to make these awesome projects which you cannot possibly finish all of them since one of them in heirloom classes is a christening dress and other extensive projects. The curriculum is meant to last for several years of your teaching in a dealership or wherever you choose to teach.

Many use this licensing as a beginning to a custom sewing and embroidery business. After learning all of the techniques and having the experience of being with not only our staff but other women and men from all over the US and other countries for 7 days and nights, they begin to see that teaching in combination with a custom sewing/embroidery business is a wonderful possibility for them. We encourage both and talk extensively with business seminars and group discussions about how to build these types of sewing businesses.

Another group has begun over the last two years to come. Those who realize that this program is the absolute BEST way in the world-anywhere in the world-to learn all of the heirloom techniques and be given the finest instructors who hover over you and help you in this small group on a one to one basis. They are coming just to come for the educational experience. They still get all of the kits, the instruction, the business seminars; however, they are coming because it is the finest educational program of its kind in the world and the most extensive. These people say they are not coming to teach or start a business at all. They just want the education.

When one considers that half of a hotel room, all of your food, all of your snacks, all of the educational classes with the world's best teachers and plenty of assistants who really assist the students, business seminars, dinner at our house which includes a visit to my real attic with my collection of antique clothes, a visit to our warehouse with opportunities to buy at a discounted price, a professional photograph of you, the sewing machine and me, the right to use my name along with yours as a Martha Pullen Licensed Teachers – forever. All of these are the reasons some people have come over and over and some people come who aren't even going to teach. However, I always remind them that they might decide later to teach or start a business even if they aren't thinking about it at this time.

We have some fabulous licensing programs for this year. I talked with Dody and she told me that she has had many requests for a "curriculum" to be sold at the full licensing price after it has been retired. Our answer is NO! Once a curriculum is retired it is closed forever except for the people who came to Huntsville to be trained. They can use it forever. The curriculum by the way is always over 100 pages for the projects and for some of the licenings it is over 200 pages long. This curriculum is only for the licensed teachers to use and they can use it for the rest of their lives.

If you would like to talk about any of our licensings, please call Dody Baker, Karen Pyne or Kathy McMakin at 800-547-4176 ext. 107 (Dody); ext. 131 (Karen); or ext. 108 (Kathy). You can also send e-mail to dody@marthapullen.com, karen@marthapullen.com or mcmakin@marthapullen.com. They will call you back if you do not reach them and/or send you materials. Our licensings fill very quickly. The groups are small. The education is superb. Please call now if you want to come to any of our licensed programs. It is the sewing educational experience of a lifetime, I promise. 100% guaranteed.
